Cinderlands Beer Co. seeks a passionate, diligent, detail-oriented individual to join our team as a cellar person at the Cinderlands Warehouse. Our brewing staff operates a 15 BBL brewhouse with 15 BBL and 30 BBL fermentation vessels, brite serving tanks, lager tanks, and a canning line in an urban brewpub setting. We will produce over 4,000 BBLs of draft and packaged beer in 2024, with the majority of it going it into self-distribution and wholesale distribution and the remainder being served on-site at our brewpubs and suburban taproom.

The Cinderlands Warehouse is a 300+ seat brewpub that opened in May 2019, just 1.5 miles from the original Cinderlands Foederhouse brewery and its Long Story Short retail concept. Both pubs have inventive, professional kitchen teams led by talented chefs who are our partners in delivering exceptional experiences to our guests. Cinderlands was named one of the best new breweries in the country in 2018 by USA Today and Hop Culture Magazine, and one of the 10 best breweries in the country in 2019 by Hop Culture Magazine. We have won two gold medals at the Great American Beer Festival and one gold medal at the World Beer Cup.

This position is full-time, hourly, non-exempt (overtime eligible). Expected hours are 30-45 hours per week, typically between 8 AM and 6 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend assignments. The cellar person reports to the head of brewing operations.This is a just-beyond-entry-level position for someone who is experienced either with (1) at least six months of commercial beer production as a brewing intern, packaging hand, cellar person, or assistant brewer, or (2) at least three years of homebrewing experience coupled with extensive self-led or formal beer education.

Compensation

Competitive wage based on experience ($16.50-$18.50/hr). Duties

  • Cleaning and filling kegs, including transporting kegs for cleaning

  • Transporting materials and finished product between brewery locations and off-site storage

  • Starting up, operating, and cleaning an automated canning line

  • Racking beer between fermentors and brite tanks

  • Cleaning and sanitizing tanks and other brewery equipment

  • Harvesting and pitching yeast

  • Dry hopping, fining, and monitoring beer in tank by sensory evaluation and measurement

  • Milling grain

  • Working safely and efficiently

  • Maintaining safe conditions for other employees and visitors

  • Receiving, organizing, and packing shipments

  • Counting and recording inventory thoroughly and accurately

  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and orderliness in the production area

  • Following production SOPs and contributing to their ongoing development

  • Keeping accurate, timely, and legible records

  • Troubleshooting mechanical equipment to ensure safe and timely production of finished beer

  • Communicating with the head brewer to understand and fulfill responsibilities

  • Reporting safety, maintenance, or beer quality issues to supervisors

  • Representing Cinderlands Beer Co. in a positive way and avoiding actions, statements, and situations that are not reflective of Cinderlands' culture, standards, and good standing in the community

  • Assignment to on- and off-site consumer-facing events outside of normal working hours, e.g. trade shows, beer dinners, and beer festivals

  • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications and Desirable Traits

    • Ability to push and pull 165-pound kegs along floor

    • Ability to unload 2,500-pound pallets of grain and sugar, 50-55 pounds at a time

    • Ability to work in tight spaces with low clearance for extended periods of time

    • Ability to work in extreme hot and cold temperatures for short periods of time

    • Ability to work with hazardous chemicals and wear personal protective equipment

    • Ability to travel by car, train, and airplane

    • 21 years of age or older.
